Lost My Name sell millionth book, record-breakers: Dragons’ Den
The Hackney-based publishing start-up that in 2014 landed the best ever deal on TV’s Dragons’ Den has published its one millionth book.
Lost My Name secured a £100,000 investment from Piers Linney in exchange for a 4% stake in the company on Dragon’s Den, which has created technology to make personalised books for children.
Orders rushed after the series aired, serving its first title “The Little Boy/Girl Who Lost His/Her Name”, which costs £19.99 and generates a story about the individual letters of a child’s name, to the million milestone.
Founded by Asi Sharabi, Tal Oron Pedro Serapicos and David Cadji-Newby, three dads and an uncle, the company has also lately raised $9 million in a financing round led by Google Ventures.
“The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home”, the second book was launched last month and it is exploring more ideas.
With Olivia and Oliver proving the most popular, Lost My Name also discovered some data on the book sales it has notched up so far, saying of the 1 million Lost Name books around 100,000 were for different names.
Demand for books for Annas, Elsas, Cerseis and Aryas have also risen thanks to the popularity of Game of Thrones and Disney film Frozen, it added.
